2024 was a year of incredible growth, resilience, and connection—both personally and professionally. It was a year that pushed me in ways I never expected, as I navigated challenges and took leaps of faith in my business. But there’s a part of my journey I’ve been quiet about until now, and I want to open up about it.
For over two years, my 5-year-old daughter, Remi, has been battling debilitating physical and neurological symptoms. Last year, we finally learned the root cause: Lyme disease and PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome). Her journey has been one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever faced, and balancing her care with running a business has tested me in ways I never imagined.
What 2024 Taught Me:
- Lesson 1: Authenticity Over Perfection
The most beautiful moments aren’t staged—they’re found in the quiet, chaotic, and unfiltered moments of real life. Every family I photographed this year reminded me that the magic lies in connection, not perfection. - Lesson 2: The Power of Storytelling
I’ve learned that my work is about more than just photos—it’s about capturing the stories that make each family unique. Documenting your love and connection has reminded me of the strength we all carry through life’s ups and downs. - Lesson 3: Trusting Myself and Taking Risks
2024 was a year of stepping out of my comfort zone. I joined a mastermind filled with incredible, supportive people and flew to New York for a life-changing retreat. These experiences gave me clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. - Lesson 4: Finding a Life Raft in the Storm
Photography became my life raft. As I juggled the demands of being a mom to a very sick little girl, capturing families became my therapy, my escape, and my grounding force. Your stories gave me strength when I needed it most, and I’ll forever be grateful for the connection and purpose this work brings me.
Looking Ahead to 2025:
This year, I’m more excited than ever. I’ve been dreaming up a new experience that celebrates moms in a way that goes beyond photos—a deeply personal and transformative journey that captures their strength, love, and legacy. I can’t wait to share more about this soon.
